William E. Rosenbach, Ph.D.

Dr. William E. Rosenbach is Evans Professor of Eisenhower Leadership Studies and Professor of Management, Emeritus at Gettysburg College. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 1977 in Business Administration (Organizational Behavior). Dr. Rosenbach served as Chairperson of the Department of Management, Gettysburg College, from 1984 to 1991. He was Professor and Head for the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership, U.S. Air Force Academy from 1982-84, and a member of the faculty there from 1972 to 1984. He was an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of the Universities of Colorado and Maryland. Dr. Rosenbach’s research focuses on leader and follower effectiveness, leadership development and the relationship of transformational leadership to organizational culture and change.

Dr. Rosenbach serves as a consultant to business, government, and not-for-profit organizations on specific, short-term managerial concerns as well as long-term program development. Clients include General Electric Capital, IBM, The Johnson Companies (financial services), American Airlines, Digital Equipment Corporation, National Computer Systems, North Star Steel, Booz, Allen, Hamilton, The Kellogg Foundation, Kentucky Bankers Association, General Motors Europe, Australian Institute of Management, National Australia Bank, Center for Creative Leadership, Australian Fire Protection Association, NASA, FBI, National Fire Academy, Fannie Mae, U.S. Air Force, Internal Revenue Service, and others.

He is the co-author of Contemporary Issues in Leadership, 7th Ed.; Leadership: Challenges for Today’s Managers; and Military Leadership: In Pursuit of Excellence, 6th Ed., which has been translated into Hindi and Chinese. Dr. Rosenbach has also has more than fifty publications in scientific and professional journals and books. He is co-author of The Leadership Profile, the Leadership Competency Assessment; and the Performance and Relationship Questionnaire. His presentation sponsors include the International Congress of Psychology in Australia; Eastern Academy of Management in France, Greece, Ireland, and Czech Republic; American Psychological Association; Academy of Management; Center for Creative Leadership; National Fire Academy; the Brookings Institute; and others.
